This lovely, natural wooden creature is the Ostheimer Wooden Camel without saddle. A tactile, sensory addition to your child’s playtime.
Loved by generations worldwide, Ostheimer has been handcrafting the finest natural wooden toys in Germany for more than 70 years. Inspired by the (Waldorf) educational principles of Rudolf Steiner, Ostheimer toys are uniquely designed to foster a child’s imagination. Each wooden figure is shaped with love and care with Ostheimer’s signature soft hand-sanded shapes and gentle colors. Slight differences in color and deviations in the structure of the grain contribute to the special charm of these heirloom toys.
We consider Ostheimer the truest “eco toys” on the planet with careful consideration given to children, people and the environment from start to finish: using sustainable European woods from local forests, plant-based watercolors and finished with organic walnut oil (as opposed to varnish) to allow the vitality of the wood to show through.
All Ostheimer toys meet or exceed strict EU safety testing standards and are vegan-friendly.
That’s why we love Ostheimer wooden toys!
Based on her studies of both Waldorf (Steiner) pedagogy and anthroposophic ideas, Margarete Ostheimer began a collection of toys that nutured the imagination. In her own words: “It is the fantasy of our children alone that breathes life into the seemingly stiff wooden figures, the form and colour of which purposely have been reduced to an essential minimum. It is apparent how little coaching our children need to dive into their worlds.”
Ostheimer figures are produced by trained craftspeople. Slight differences in colour and slight deviations in the structure of the grain contribute to the special charm and uniqueness of Ostheimer figures.
